POTTSTOWN PA – Get out the two-, three-, and maybe even four-wheelers – all of the pedal-pushing variety, mind you – and have them and their riders checked for safety next Saturday (Oct. 24, 2015) beginning at 10 a.m. on a bicycle safety and obstacle course presented by the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department. It’s part of the first township Community Day in the Sanatoga Village Center parking lot, 2200 E. High St.
The best portions of the department’s highly popular spring bicycle rodeo are returning in the inaugural fall event, Ofc. Rob Diesinger said. The course gives children and their parents the opportunity to bring bicycles and helmets to the former K-Mart parking lot, where they’ll have fun as officers teach safe riding habits.
In addition to the bike activity, the Ringing Hill and Sanatoga fire companies also will participate in Community Day with displays, community information, and equipment for local residents to explore. For helicopter fans, a Medivac unit is expected to land at noon, and open its doors for a tour.
Making the day even bigger is the township Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Fall Festival, which this year is re-located from Sanatoga Park to join in Community Day. On its agenda are pumpkin decorating, games, hay rides, and the usual costume contest. The costume parade begins at noon; children who are interested in winning a prize for their outfits must register before it begins.
The events run side-by-side. All are free, and underwritten in part by generous sponsorship.
