SANATOGA PA – A Georgia visitor probably doesn’t think much of northern hospitality, after he met members of a local welcoming committee. It consisted of Lower Pottsgrove police officers, who arrested him Saturday night (Oct. 17, 2015) on drug charges and for alleged inebriation outside a hotel in the township.
Adam Eugene Reed, 35, of the 900 block of Wilbanks Road in Chatsworth GA, has been charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness, according to a department press release issued Monday morning (Oct. 19) by Ofcs. Scott Burnick and Kevin Black.
Chatsworth is a city of about 5,000 people near Georgia’s northern border, located at the edge of the Chattahoochee National Forest and about 25 miles southeast of Chattanooga TN.
The press release didn’t mention why Reed had traveled to Pennsylvania, but did note he was one of four persons who occupied a “suspicious vehicle” spotted by Burnick while he was on patrol in the rear parking lot of the Days Inn, 1600 Industrial Hwy. As Burnick drove past the vehicle, he reported smelling “a strong odor of burnt marijuana” emanating from it.
Reed and Black made contact with those inside and identified Reed as the driver. They alleged he admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking beer there, and turned two bags of marijuana over to police. Burnick and Black also allegedly found drug paraphernalia and a marijuana joint inside.
Of the four, only Reed was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville PA, the officers said.
