Lopez Attends First Meeting As Commissioner

SMILING, AND READY FOR WORK – The Lower Pottsgrove Board of Commissioners is back to its full five-member strength, and smiling about it. Commissioners assembled Thursday night (Oct. 22, 2015), before the start of their meeting in the conference room of the municipal building at 2199 Buchert Rd., for a portrait that includes their newest colleague, Ray Lopez (at center). Lopez was selected and sworn into office earlier this month and succeeds Shawn Watson, who resigned. Surrounding him are, at left, President Bruce Foltz, Vice President Stephen Klotz, and, at right, commissioners James Vlahos and Earl Swavely. Commissioners thanked Lopez for his willingness to serve, and also thanked four other candidates who expressed interest in and interviewed for the position. Among the board’s business items Thursday was to appoint Lopez as the township representative to the Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Planning Committee. “Oh, boy!,” Klotz said with a mischievous grin, but then turned serious. “Really,” he added, “there’s a lot more time than people tend to think that goes into this job.”
