POTTSTOWN PA – Got concerns about the safety of candy your children will bring home from Halloween trick-or-treating? The Patient First urgent health care center in Pottstown is offering to check those goodies for free.
The center, at 119 Shoemaker Rd., will be open Friday and Saturday (Oct. 30-31, 2015) from 6-9 p.m. to provide digital X-ray imaging of bags of candy to possibly detect glass, metal or plastic objects, it said. It also will give away safety blinkers that can be attached to a child’s Halloween costume to increase his or her visibility at night. One blinker will be offered to each child.
Patient First warns parents that an adult should always inspect candy before allowing a child to enjoy it. Parents must still provide supervision since some foreign materials may not appear in X-rays.
