Police Charge Reading Man, 24, With DUI

SANATOGA PA – The Halloween weekend proved to be no treat for a Reading area resident.

Ahmed Kaba, 24, of Reading PA, has been charged with driving under the influence by Lower Pottsgrove police following an incident that occurred Saturday (Oct. 31, 2015) at about 11:21 p.m. on U.S. Route 422 west, according to a department press release.

Ofc. Kevin Black said he was patrolling the highway when he allegedly saw a white Toyota sedan entering the 422 construction zone between Lower Pottsgrove and North Coventry townships, traveling “with its wheels in both lanes of travel” and crossing and riding its double white lines “on multiple occasions.” It narrowly avoided striking several objects, Black added.

The car was pulled over at mile marker 172, where Black identified and spoke with the driver. He said he believed Kaba to be driving under the influence of alcohol as a result, and asked him to submit to both field sobriety and chemical breath testing. He did and subsequently failed both; Kaba’s blood alcohol content was .125 percent, Black said.

A preliminary hearing on the charge has been scheduled for the Sanatoga courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Edward Kropp Sr., the release stated.
