He Allegedly Was Out-Of-Bounds At ‘Grove Game

POTTSTOWN PA – A 45-year-old Broomall PA man was arrested Friday (Nov. 13, 2015) at about 8:44 p.m. on School Lane outside the Pottsgrove High School football game against Marple-Newtown, by Lower Pottsgrove police on a charge of public drunkenness, after his alleged involvement in an incident they said was “disruptive to students and other spectators in the area.”

Cited was Shawn Weathers, 45. His Broomall home address was not listed.

In a police department press release, Ofc. Scott Burnick reported he was on foot patrol during the ‘Grove game at the high school stadium when he saw a vehicle park in front of an emergency exit reserved for an ambulance, and then heard loud music coming from its interior. Burnick later identified the driver as Weathers, and asked him to move the vehicle.

While speaking with Weathers, Burnick claimed he detected a strong alcoholic odor coming from the driver’s breath. Weathers became “uncooperative” with police, Burnick said, and publicly “disruptive.”

Because Weathers was “clearly intoxicated to a point where he was a danger to himself and others,” Burnick said, he was cited for public drunkenness and “turned over to a sober adult.”
