This Theft Charge Must Have Left A Bad Taste

POTTSTOWN PA – A woman who allegedly tried leaving a local supermarket Friday (Nov. 13, 2015) with a concealed cheesecake may have had a bad taste in her mouth after being arrested by Lower Pottsgrove police on a charge of retail theft.

Saryn Ellen Williams, 25, of North York Street, was taken into custody Friday afternoon just before 2:30 at Redner’s Warehouse Market, North Charlotte Street. Township police Sgt. Scott Weidenhammer, in a department press release, said she was detained by the store’s loss prevention personnel, and later arrested and processed.

According to the report, the store employees said they observed Williams “selecting and then concealing a quantity of cheesecake.” She then continued to walk through the store. The flavor of the cheesecake was not mentioned, nor was its retail value.

Williams attempted to leave the store, the cheesecake still hidden, without paying for it, the report stated. That’s when she was stopped and held, and Weidenhammer was called.

She is scheduled to appear at a later date in the Sanatoga courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Edward Kropp Sr.
