David Nester, the Pottsgrove School District’s always attentive business manager (seen here at the school board’s Oct. 13 meeting), is likely to figure prominently in its Tuesday financial discussions
POTTSTOWN PA – A discussion of the Pottsgrove School District’s 2014-2015 audit – accompanied by the annual question, “Did the district benefit from a surplus again this year?” – is among items on the agenda of the Board of School Directors when it meets Tuesday (Dec. 1, 2015) at 7:30 p.m. at Pottsgrove High School on Kauffman Road.
The meeting is open to the public and free to attend. A copy of the Pottsgrove agenda is available for download from the district website, here.
Before it leaps into talk of finances and other issues, however, the board will conduct its annual re-organizational meeting, during which it thanks departing directors, administers the oaths of office to four new directors, and chooses its leadership for the next 12 months. A separate agenda for the reorganization can be downloaded here.
The audit, scheduled to be presented by Chris Turrell of Herbein & Company, tops the list of Superintendent Shellie Feola’s discussion items during the meeting. In recent years, Pottsgrove has regularly reported it either spent less than budgeted, brought in more revenue than anticipated, or accomplished both to achieve a budget surplus.
If a surplus exists in the 2014-2015 budget, the hot question board members may face will be its future allocation and use.
Also Tuesday, the board is scheduled to:
- Learn about the final phase of borrowing needed to complete financing for renovation of Pottsgrove High School;
- Hear about the evaluation of and possible remedies for a mold problem discovered earlier this year in Ringing Rocks Elementary School;
- Set its timeline for completion of the 2016-2017 district budget, due by mid-year; and
Act on a variety of personnel and other business items.
