SANATOGA PA – An investigation is continuing into a car-pedestrian accident that occurred early Friday night (Dec. 18, 2015) in the 1800 block of East High Street, during which a Pottstown man was seriously injured, Lower Pottsgrove police reported. They hope to talk with anyone who might have witnessed the event.
Township Ofc. Ryan Smith said Jeffrey Ney, 26, whose home address in Pottstown was not available, was struck by a vehicle at 5:11 p.m. while crossing East High near Sunnybrook Road, between the CVS Pharmacy and National Penn Bank buildings located on opposite corners there. “Ney sustained serious injuries from the impact and was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital,” Smith said in a department press release.
Driving the eastbound Hyundai Accent that reportedly struck Ney was driver Mary Vogt, 36, also of an unspecified address in Pottstown, according to the department.
The nature of the Friday accident prompted police to close one lane of East High traffic in both directions as all parties were cared for and the scene was processed. Volunteers from the Sanatoga Fire Company, and both Sanatoga and Ringing Hill fire police assisted. The road was fully re-opened at about 7:45 p.m., Smith said.
There was no indication charges, if any, were pending. Smith asked anyone with information on the accident to call the department at 610-326-1508.
