POTTSTOWN PA – Two groups of employees at Diamond Credit Union (above and below), whose corporate headquarters is located on Medical Drive in Lower Pottsgrove, gave their cheer to others rather than to themselves during the recent holiday, their company reported last Monday (Dec. 21, 2015).
Rather than exchange gifts among themselves, members of the credit union’s customer service and lending teams agreed to adopt families in need as their Christmas causes.
Service team members volunteered to buy toys for donation to Operation HomeFront, a non-profit serving veterans’ families, and to bake hundreds of cookies to be sent to military men and women deployed overseas. The service team consists of those who work in Diamond’s service call center, member service support, and deposit operations departments.
The toy donations were picked up by Operation Home Front representatives for distribution in the Reading PA area. The cookies were packed and shipped by the Keystone Military Families organization to two separate military units.
The Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family program won the Diamond lending team’s support. Its members purchased and wrapped all gift items on one family’s wish list, and found some “extras” to brighten the holiday spirit.
Diamond President John Faust called both efforts “fantastic ideas” and thanks his employees for “taking an extra initiative.”
