Colleges Announce Area Scholars’ Achievements

SANATOGA PA – Fifty-one local students were honored through Friday (Jan. 1, 2016) for academic accomplishments and college achievements in announcements from their educational institutions.

Dean’s List

The following students have been named to the dean’s list at Kutztown University, Kutztown PA:

Two Pottstown residents, Ashley Cole and Nicole Raimondi, were named to the dean’s list at Cedar Crest College, Allentown PA.


The following students graduated from Millersville University, Millersville PA, during its December commencement:

From Pottstown, Maggie Benedict, with a bachelor of arts in social work; Wesley DeMarco, with a bachelor of science in computer science; Brandon Kostishak, with a bachelor of science in applied engineering & technology management; Daniel Miller, with a bachelor of science in education in early childhood and special education; Lindsey Place, with a bachelor of science in education in early childhood and special education; Kyle Dentler, with a bachelor of science in business administration.

From Royersford, Kelsey Hagan, with a bachelor of science in education in middle level education; Ryan True, with a bachelor of arts in multidisciplinary studies in sciences.

Titles, Awards, Acceptances

Rachel Long of Royersford has been named a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma. Long is studying Nursing at Alvernia University and is a graduate of Spring-Ford Senior High School. Delta Epsilon Sigma is a national scholastic honor society for students, faculty and alumni of Catholic colleges and universities.

Austin Mora of Pottstown is one of more than 100 students who performed this fall with a music ensemble at Lebanon Valley College, Annville PA. Mora, a graduate of Pottstown Senior High School, is pursuing a bachelor of music in audio and music production and was a member of the Jazz Band.

Nicholas Viscardi, a computer science major from Pottstown, named during December to the Student Senate of Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown PA. Senate members work to improve the college experience for students, faculty, and staff, and serve as advocates for the student needs on campus.

Claire Weckerly, a first-year undecided major from Royersford, was recently named to the honors program at Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown PA, for the 2015-2016 academic year. She participated in advanced classes within the program last fall.

Marley Kropp of Limerick, scheduled to graduate in 2017 from Grove City College, Grove City PA, is scheduled to head overseas to study history, culture and communications at three Welsh universities as part of a Fulbright Institute program. She will study at Cardiff University, Bangor University, and Aberystwyth University to participate in a six-week seminar titled “Contemporary Wales: Industry, Politics, Culture and Change.” Kropp will focus on how the history, language, politics, traditions, geography and economy of Wales impact the country’s contemporary culture.
