SANATOGA PA – Lower Pottsgrove Commissioner Earl Swavely, who also is a member of the Board of Commissioners’ Police Committee, now additionally has been named as its representative to its two fire companies, Sanatoga and Ringing Hill.
Board Vice President and Police Committee Chairman Stephen Klotz said Swavely had already met with representatives of both companies and had begun “building a good working relationship.”
A long-time township resident and the former chief of police in West Pottsgrove, Swavely personally knows many of the members and leadership among the fire companies. He’ll seek to work with them and the board to address future needs and resolve problems, if any, Klotz said.
Swavely’s appointment as liaison was announced during the board’s Jan. 21 meeting.
In a related matter, commissioners during the same meeting approved the accounting firm of Maillie LLP to conduct routine annual audits of the fire companies’ 2015 finances, at a cost of $2,275 per company. Commissioners specified the audits would focus only on expenditures of public fire tax revenue collected by the township to benefit the companies’ operations.
Maillie operates offices in Mont Clare and West Chester PA, and Wilmington DE.
