Township Meeting Rules Set For Vote Tonight

Commissioners Ray Lopez, left, and James Vlahos confer during a recent board meeting

SANATOGA PA – Lower Pottsgrove’s leadership hopes to build more structure into its meetings with the potential passage tonight (Monday, March 7, 2016) of “meeting rules of order of the Board of Commissioners,” according to the agenda for the township commissioners’ first session of the month.

Appointed Commissioner Ray Lopez recently drafted proposed rules that in part describe how township meetings would be conducted, in what order business would be considered, when public comments will be accepted on board business and under what circumstances, and how the board would deal with items not on its agenda. That proposal is scheduled to be voted on tonight by the board.

The commissioners’ meeting opens at 7 p.m. in the municipal building, 2199 Buchert Rd. It is free to attend and open to the public. A copy of the agenda is available for download from the township website, here.

Also on the agenda, commissioners are scheduled to:

  • Hear a presentation on the Regional Street Light Procurement Program, to be given by Michael Bayesa of Johnson Controls;
  • Consider advertising what the agenda describes as a “local agency hearing” for March 24 at 6 p.m.; and
  • Receive monthly reports from the township police chief, emergency management coordinator, fire marshal, Public Works department, the Pottstown Area Council of Governments, engineer, treasurer, solicitor, Parks and Recreation Board, Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Planning Commission, and the Lower Pottsgrove Township Authority.
