Four Local Companies Aid In Thursday Fire

LOCAL FIREFIGHTERS ASSIST IN GILBERTSVILLE – Volunteer firefighters from Sanatoga, Ringing Hill, Limerick and Linfield were among those from 10 fire companies and other emergency services that responded Thursday morning (Aug. 18, 2016) to an intense residential fire on the 500 block of Congo Road in nearby Gilbertsville. The blaze, which officials said began in an adjacent garage, spread to portions of the home and left it uninhabitable, according to reports. High summer heat and an inadequate water supply were said to have made battling the fire difficult. Two people in the home at the time escaped without injury; one firefighter who was not identified was reported to have been treated for a head injury. It took more than a hour to gain control of the fire; investigators are in the process of determining a cause.
