Porter Road Limited Left Turn Now In Effect

LIMITED LEFT TURN APPROVED – Lower Pottsgrove’s Board of Commissioners last Monday (Oct. 20, 2016) gave final and unanimous approval to restricting left-hand (westbound) turns from Porter Road onto East High Street, near the Sprogels Run bridge, daily between 4 and 6 p.m. The limitation applies during only those two late-afternoon hours but affects passenger and commercial vehicles alike, township Manager Ed Wagner said. The intersection has been the scene of several accidents, particularly as eastbound High Street traffic passes Porter. The township’s traffic impact fee (Act 209) committee, in a traffic sufficiency analysis it delivered to the board last November, rated the intersection a “D” because of the congestion and traffic back-ups it caused. Drivers who ignore the restriction could be ticketed by police.
