Recycle Holiday Trees Saturday At Arboretum

UPPER POTTSGROVE PA – So, the winter holidays are officially over. The good news? Getting rid of your Christmas tree is probably easier than taking down the strings of lights decorating the exterior of your home. It’s environmentally friendly, too.

Bring that tree Saturday (Jan. 7, 2017) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to Althouse Arboretum, 1794 Gilbertsville Rd., and volunteers of the non-profit GreenAllies organization – including several Pottsgrove School District students – will happily take it off your hands for an alternative future use. They’ll provide help in removing trees from within or on top of each vehicle.

Then, with assistance from Upper Pottsgrove Township, the trees will be chipped to cover the arboretum’s walking trails, it said.

Recycling day is open to everyone in the region, and it’s free, but donations also would be graciously accepted. For more information, call 267-371-2288 or email jess@green-allies.org.
