NEW YORK NY – Residents of the Pottsgrove, Pottstown, and Spring-Ford Area school districts are being invited to nominate one or more school nurses for the honor of being named “America’s Greatest School Nurse,” in a contest being sponsored nationwide by New York-based Pfizer Consumer Healthcare.
Pfizer representative Marta Jonca, in a Wednesday (Jan. 11, 2017) press release, said “school nurses are there to handle every bump, fever, sore throat and upset stomach … from the moment the bell rings in the morning to the zip of the last backpack at the end of the day.” Pfizer, which manufactures a variety of medicinal products for children, wants to award “an ultimate summer vacation” to the winning nurse, she said.
Nominations from anyone who would like to honor an exemplary school nurse are being accepted now through Feb. 23. One nurse from each of the 50 states and Washington DC will be named finalists, and each will win $500. From March 27 to April 16, consumers will vote for one of the finalists to win a grand prize. One nurse will be named America’s Greatest School Nurse on May 5.
