STOWE PA – Intermittent lane closures are scheduled to occur on eastbound U.S. Route 422, between its Route 100 and Stowe interchanges, on Monday (Jan. 30, 2017) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. so construction crews can install concrete beams on a new bridge being built over the Schuylkill River, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. PennDOT warned backups may occur on eastbound 422. The work schedule depends on the weather.
PennDOT contractor J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen PA is currently replacing the eastbound 422 bridge over the Schuylkill as part of the $36.2 million bridge improvement project. It’s the second of six projects to move to construction for PennDOT’s program to rebuild and improve seven miles of 422 between the Berks County line and Sanatoga.
