This group of student artists from area high schools are now displaying works at a Pottstown gallery
POTTSTOWN PA – Students from Pottsgrove High School are among budding artists from Montgomery, Berks and Chester counties exhibiting their multi-media creations through March 24 (2017; Friday) during the fourth annual Tri-County High School Art Show in the Fine Arts Gallery of the West Campus of Montgomery County Community College, 16 E. High St. The show officially opened Wednesday (Feb. 15) with a reception and awards ceremony.
Falcon artists, under the leadership of teachers Cindy Scherer, Heather Durkee, and Stacey King, included Domenico Rinaldi, Carly Bean, Summer Grier, Summer Hanley, Destinee Leibensperger, Anna Myers, Aaron Nealy, and Savanna Pulcher, according to Principal Dr. Bill Ziegler.
The juried show includes about 70 pieces representing paintings, drawings, photography, ceramics, textiles, and installation art by more than 59 artists representing nine different high schools. Also participating are students from Pottstown High School, The Hill School, Spring-Ford High School, The Perkiomen School, Perkiomen Valley High School, Downingtown East High School, Unionville High School, and Upper Merion High School.
Area high schools were permitted to submit up to eight works selected by art teachers at those schools. The creations were then juried by Erika Hornburg-Cooper, co-founder and executive director of ArtFusion 19464, a non-profit community art center in Pottstown.
“I am continuously impressed with the creativity of our region’s young artists, and the pieces in this show are no exception,” Hornburg-Cooper said. “These works exhibit a broad range of self-expression and a level of quality that will leave patrons inspired by and proud of what our youth have to offer the art world.”
The gallery, located in North Hall, features the artwork of local, regional and national artists through an array of exhibitions. It is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gallery will be closed March 13-19 for spring break.
