NORTH COVENTRY PA – If you’re scouring the market for a new job, a replacement job, or a second (and maybe even a third) job, then you may want to be at Coventry Mall, 351 W. Schuylkill Rd., this Monday through Wednesday (Feb. 20-22, 2017).

An “extreme value fashion and home retailer” operated by Gabriel Brothers Inc. and known in 12 different states as “Gabe’s” intends to open March 18 in a portion of the former Sears store in the mall. At the start of the week Gabe’s will host “a hiring event to fill part-time and full-time positions” there, it said in a press release issued Wednesday (Feb. 15).

Jobs are available for crew members in customer service, merchandising, cashier and stocking roles. The job fair will be held Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The company said it is expecting hundreds of applicants at the hiring event.

Applicants must bring two forms of identification (a driver’s license, social security card, birth certificate, passport, or other acceptable ID), and should be prepared to be interviewed and hired immediately. Those who cannot make it to the hiring event can email their resume to

The North Coventry Gabe’s store is one of several Gabriel Brothers plans to open during 2017, and company management promises to “feature a wide variety of great styles, famous brands, and amazing prices.” Gabe’s pricing is said to represent a discount on some goods of up to 70-percent less than department stores.

Gabriel Brothers Inc. was founded in 1961, and is a privately-held company headquartered in Morgantown WV. It operates two retail chains – Gabe’s, and Rugged Warehouse – serving customers in Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Indiana. The North Coventry location will open as Gabe’s 67th store.
