Two Sanatoga Neighbors Fight, Both Charged

SANATOGA PA – Two Sanatoga men who are next-door neighbors were involved in a fight Wednesday night (Feb. 22, 2017) and face charges brought by Lower Pottsgrove police.

Officers charged Joseph Gnapp, of Lot 42 in Shaner’s Trailer Park, 3000 E. High St., with public intoxication; and Scott Gaus, of Lot 43, with simple assault and related charges, after breaking up the altercation outside Gaus’ home at about 5 p.m.

Police investigating the incident claimed the “highly intoxicated” Gnapp had wandered over to Lot 43 “looking for his lost cat.” Gaus, who they said earlier had warned Gnapp “to stay off his property,” allegedly assaulted Gnapp upon finding him there. Gaus pushed Gnapp “through a glass window on the front of his trailer, shattering it, and throwing him to the ground,” according to Ofc. James Kenney.

Gnapp “sustained several lacerations to his arms and legs, along with a cut and swelling to his face,” the police report stated. He was treated at the scene by Goodwill Ambulance.

Gaus is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 8 in the Sanatoga courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Edward Kropp Sr. on charges of simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct, according to a court docket sheet. Gnapp was cited for public intoxication, and also received a police warning for trespassing on Gaus’ property.
