KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Contractors working on improvements to U.S. Route 422 in the Valley Forge area are keeping late-night hours again.
Barrier installation, excavation, and line striping on eastbound and westbound 422 between its interchanges at Route 363 and First Avenue will result in nightly lane closures through Thursday (April 13, 2017) between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced. Drivers also will find night-time lane restrictions on the ramp from westbound 422 to 363, PennDOT said.
It advised drivers to allow additional time for travel on 422 near the construction area. Backups will occur, PennDOT warned. The work schedule of contractor J.D. Eckman Inc. depends on the weather.
This work is part of the $97.4 million project to build new, wider bridges to improve travel and carry 422 motorists over the Schuylkill River, Norfolk Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River Trail. It includes improving 422 between Routes 23 and 363; upgrading 23 at its interchange with 422; and improving ramps at the 363, 23, and First Avenue interchanges. Construction is scheduled to finish in May 2020.
