Interested In Local Policing? Take The Test

SANATOGA PA – Interested in becoming an officer on the force of the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department? The window to submit an application for a required written exam – the first step in the hiring process – is open though May 24 (2017; Wednesday), so there’s no time to waste.

Be forewarned: the exam is admittedly difficult. The online application process? Not so much.

Because the township prefers to be ready to hire officers in the future, it’s started to build a new Civil Service list of eligible applicants. For that task, Lower Pottsgrove is working with the Montgomery County Police Consortium to conduct its testing June 3 at 8 a.m. in Montgomery County Community College, Parkhouse Hall, 340 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell PA.

Simultaneously seeking candidates are Limerick, Upper Pottsgrove, Lower Providence, Cheltenham, Hatboro, Lower Moreland, Norristown, North Wales, Springfield, Towamencin, Upper Dublin, Upper Moreland, Warminster and Whitpain. The unified application form that allows candidates to apply to only one or all 15 municipal forces at the same time is available online here. A single $30 registration fee will be charged.

  • The consortium created a video to promote the exam, and posted it to several Facebook accounts. It appears above.

Those who successfully pass the written exam may be invited next to take an agility test, and other tests likely will follow it.
