Dogs, Humans Had Fun Despite Ruff Weather

ENJOYING THEMSELVES DESPITE THE WEATHER – Dozens of canines and their human companions (at top and above) ignored Saturday’s (April 22, 2017) rain and chill, and occupied Memorial Park in Pottstown for several hours during the 11th annual Bark For Life fund-raiser to benefit the American Cancer Society. Dog owners, many of whom are cancer survivors themselves, walked with their pets around the park, or sold a variety of products, to help meet their monetary goals and also heighten awareness of progress in curing the disease. The group’s volunteers (below) announced the effort collected more than $16,000 to help fund cancer research and patient assistance programs. Bark For Life is a precursor to the larger Relay for Life event that is scheduled to be held June 3 at Pottsgrove High School on Kauffman Road.
