Pottsgrove 5-K Race, Fun Run Return Tonight

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Cheer on students from the Pottsgrove School District middle and elementary schools as they lace up their running shoes, and prepare to launch the 16th annual edition of the Pottsgrove Education Foundation 5-K Race and Kids Fun Run. It’s being held tonight (Friday, May 12, 2017) beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Pottsgrove High School’s stadium, 1345 Kauffman Rd.

There’s still time to join in, too. Registration time has been set aside tonight for between 5:30 and 6 p.m. For more information, call the district athletic office at 610-326-6376.

The event benefits the foundation, which helps pay for programs, materials and supplies not afforded within the district budget.

Students who intend to participate are part of the district’s Pride, and Falcon Fitness, programs in the schools. They’ve been getting ready for the run during the past eight weeks, district Director of Athletics Gary DeRenzo said, and for many this will be the first road race they’ve ever run. The course is a slightly hilly neighborhood run that begins and ends at the stadium, and is wheel-measured for length.

Registration for the race costs $20, and includes a race T-shirt, as well as the opportunity to win prizes in nine different age groups for both males and females, as well as for overall winners. Parents can join their children in the fun run.
