Pottsgrove Takes Annual Envirothon Honors

THEY’RE ‘NATURAL WORLD’ EXPERTS! – Members of the Pottsgrove School District’s high school Envirothon Team 1 finished in third place during the recently held annual Montgomery County Conservation District Envirothon Competition at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park in Upper Providence Township, according to district Athletic Director Gary DeRenzo. Students Karleigh Cimorelli, Shannon Thomas, Karli Tellis, Laura Hoffman, and Michael Lance “took on 15 other teams from seven different high schools” in a “test their knowledge of environmental issues and the natural world,” DeRenzo said. Competitors were tested at five different stations within the park on wildlife, forestry, aquatics, soils and land use, and – as a special topic this year – agricultural soil and water conservation. DeRenzo offered his congratulations to all three teams Pottsgrove that were entered.
