SANATOGA PA – A “strong armed robbery” that occurred Monday (Memorial Day, May 29, 2017) at 5:36 p.m. in the U.S. Gas Station, 2177 E. High St., has prompted the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department to call for public assistance for any information on the crime. Its detectives are available at 610-326-1508.
The department, in a Facebook status update posted Tuesday morning (May 30) at about 9 a.m., said it was looking for three alleged perpetrators – “black males, appearing to be teenagers, all between 5’10 and 6 (feet) tall” – who it stated “entered the store … threatened the store clerk with physical force, and demanded they turn over packs of cigars.” The suspects then fled the store on foot with 38 packs of individual cigars in assorted flavors, it added.
No weapons were displayed or used in the incident. No one was reported injured.
A surveillance camera photo of the suspects inside the store appears above. The three suspects were dressed, according to a news release from Chief Michael Foltz, in:
- A blue stripped hoodie, and skinny jeans;
- A black hoodie, grey sweat pants, and black sneakers; and
- A black hoodie, skinny jeans, and black sneakers.
The department credited Pottstown police with assisting them is establishing a perimeter for a search area around the store, and initially tracking the suspects with a K9 unit. The suspects were successfully tracked “to the area of an open field between Coventry Christian School, Rolling Hills Development and Pebble Beach Drive,” but no further.
