THANKED FOR THEIR SERVICE – Lower Pottsgrove Police Ofc. James McCue (at top, and second from left below), and Pottstown Police Ofc. Chris Zahorchak (below at left) were presented Thursday (June 8, 2017) by Lower Pottsgrove Police Chief Michael Foltz (at top right and below center) with meritorious service awards for their response to and handling of a May 28 incident involving drugs at the Days Inn, 1600 Industrial Hwy. The two arrested three individuals on a variety of charges following an investigation that resulted in the seizure of quantities of heroin, marijuana, rock and powder cocaine, methamphetamine, suboxone, drug paraphernalia, and more than $4,000 in cash. “For a township of our size, this was a major case,” Foltz explained in thanking the officers for their diligence and thoroughness. Township Police Committee member Stephen Klotz (below second from right) praised the pair for going “over and above” in serving the public. Committee member Earl Swavely (below right) himself a former police chief, said he was particularly pleased by “the great working relationship” evident between the Pottstown and Lower Pottsgrove departments.
