The hands of Lower Pottsgrove Fire Marshal Lew Babel, a historical society volunteer, dish out a bowl full of strawberries
SANATOGA PA – Warm and sunny weather, light music, and some of the juiciest strawberries (above) to be found anywhere in Montgomery County were incentives for good table conversation among many of the hundreds of visitors (at top) who attended Saturday’s (June 10, 2017) annual Lower Pottsgrove Historical Society Strawberry Festival at Sanatoga Chapel on East High Street.
The festival is the society’s primary fund-raiser. Organizers said they were pleased with this year’s turn-out.
There’s nothing like some mellow music to set the stage for a fine afternoon
Sitting beneath a shady tree with a cold drink and a couple of friends made the day complete
So many choices … the society’s basket raffle fund-raiser offered something for everyone. Generous area merchants donated products for 34 different baskets
One of the most popular folks on the historical society grounds? That was Pottstown baseball legend Bobby Shantz, seated at right, who attracted everyone with an interest in the game
The stars of the show, of course, were baskets of strawberries. You could have them with ice cream, pound cake or by themselves
