LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Bridge work in Lower Pottsgrove, highway maintenance in Pottstown and Upper Pottsgrove, electric utility improvements in Limerick, and bridge inspections in Valley Forge all could create traffic problems next week (Monday through Friday, June 12-16, 2017) at various times on U.S. Route 422, Route 100, and a limited number of local roadways, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation warned in press releases.
Because of potential delays, PennDOT advises drivers to allow extra time when traveling through work areas. Contractors’ work schedules depend on the weather, it added.
Here’s what drivers in western Montgomery County can anticipate:
Affecting U.S. Route 422
The left lane of eastbound 422, between its Route 724 and Sanatoga interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove, is scheduled to close Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily for bridge construction. The work is part of the $73.3 million project to rebuild 1.6 miles of U.S. 422 and construct new bridges over the Schuylkill River and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks.
The right lane of eastbound 422, between its Route 363 and Route 23 interchanges in Upper Merion, is scheduled to close Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for bridge inspections. Inspections are part of PennDOT’s program to inspect bridges at least once every two years. They are intended ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
The right lane of westbound 422, also between Routes 23 and 363, is scheduled to close Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily for bridge construction.
The ramp from eastbound 422 to Route 23 is scheduled to close Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily for bridge construction. Drivers eastbound on 422 hoping to exit at 23 will instead be directed to continue further east to exit at First Avenue, then turn left on Gulph Road to reach 23.
Affecting PA Route 100
The right lane of Route 100, between King Street and U.S. Route 422 across Pottstown and Upper Pottsgrove, is scheduled to close Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for shoulder stabilization.
Affecting Highways In Limerick
Lane restrictions controlled by flaggers are scheduled on Township Line Road, between Spring Lake Road and Ridge Pike in Limerick, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for utility improvements being installed by PECO under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
Also in Limerick, and again flagger-controlled, lane restrictions are scheduled Friday through June 19 (Monday) on Main Street between Red Rock Circle and Aspen Drive between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, also for utility improvements.
