Graduated! Pottsgrove Sends World Its Seniors

Big smiles and happy faces were the apparel of the night Friday

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Wearing bright smiles and brimming with confidence, the sixty-first graduating class of Pottsgrove High School received their diplomas during commencement ceremonies Friday night (June 16, 2017) in the high school’s Kauffman Road gymnasium, and then marched out to make the world an even better place, several of its speakers noted.

Seniors in the high school concert choir welcomed their colleagues with a rousing rendition of “Rise Up,” and then prepared to lead them out with a respectful school alma mater led by Director Kelsey Handler. Class valedictorian Nathaniel Yuchimiuk, and salutatorian Michael Neeson offered their thoughts on the day, as well as they days ahead, for themselves and their classmates. And not too long afterward, once various school officials had their say, the stacks of diploma jackets piled atop a table on a stage facing graduates and the audience began to diminish.

What’s not to smile about?

Principal Dr. Bill Ziegler noted he had spent seven years with this class, though both the middle and high schools

Joking at Ziegler’s expense, Superintendent Dr. William Shirk congratulated seniors on their perseverance

Class Valedictorian Nathaniel Yuchimiuk talked emotionally with seniors about the “Soundtracks of Our Lives”

Class members waited patiently for their names to be called …

… while parents, family members and friends watched from beneath the stern gaze of Pottsgrove’s Falcon mascot
