POTTSTOWN PA – Four men – one from West Pottsgrove, two from Pottstown, and one from East Coventry – were identified Wednesday (June 21, 2017) by borough police has having been involved in a fight the previous night that resulted in the stabbing of one victim. The wounded man was being treated at a regional hospital, and the incident remains under investigation, Pottstown Police Capt. Robert R. Thomas reported.
Police officers arrived Tuesday night (June 20) at about 10:15 to the area of 104 S. Roland St. on the report of an assault, and determined that four individuals were involved: Jesse Rohe of West Pottsgrove; Joshua Carmean and Trystyn Griffiths, both of Pottstown; and Shane Whitman of East Coventry. Their ages and home addresses were not immediately available.
Whitman suffered “multiple stab wounds during the fight,” Thomas said in a release, “but had left the scene” before police showed up. He was taken in a private vehicle to and initially treated at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, police learned, but later was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment at its trauma center. There was no mention of Whitman’s condition.
“The chronology of events is still under investigation,” the captain advised, and the disposition, if any, of the others identified in the fight also was not mentioned. Police, however, are looking for public help in determining what happened and when. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the borough Detective Division at 610-970-6578.
