LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – As members of the new Pottsgrove girls varsity volleyball team begin raising money to support their sport and activities, they’ll have someplace official to store that cash until it’s needed. Creation of a student activity fund for the team was approved Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2017) by the Pottsgrove Board of School Directors.
The account is where fund-raising proceeds can be deposited exclusively for team use, and from which its extracurricular purchases and payments can be made. Money players collect is intended to “enhance the team’s experience,” and pay for “goods or services that are not traditionally provided” by the school district, directors were told.
At least one fund-raiser is already under way, director Patti Grimm told her board colleagues, and others may be planned.
The volleyball team, as well as co-ed bowling, were added to the district’s sports line-up by a directors’ approval last October. The team is scheduled to play eight matches this year; coming up is its meeting Sept. 26 (Tuesday) in Collegeville against Perkiomen Valley High.
