LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Temporary signage erected by the Lower Pottsgrove Public Works Department indicates a portion of Rupert Road, from Pruss Hill Road south to near Shire Drive, will be “closed” next Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 27-28, 2017). Well, not fully closed, township Manager Ed Wagner admitted. Road repairs will be conducted there both days, he acknowledged, but local traffic may get through.
That portion of the road is in substantial need of base repairs, Wagner said. “Across the street from Raven’s Claw (housing community), there are some sections of the road from Oakdale (Drive) all the way down to Shire that we need to do base repair, and then hopefully overlay that road sometime in the future,” he added.
The signs are intended to provide notice of the work coming next week. Wagner also reported no detour has been specified in advance, and traffic may at times be able to navigate Rupert slowly but without problems. School buses will make their regular runs as well. Some drivers may be delayed at other times during the two-day period.
Rupert sees its highest traffic volumes during morning and evening rush hours, as drivers use it to travel to and from the Sanatoga interchange of U.S. Route 422, usually headed into or out of work places farther east.
