Retailer’s Show Launches Fire Prevention Week

HOME DEPOT EVENT LAUNCHES FIRE PREVENTION WEEK – An annual show of area fire companies’ apparatus, fire extinguishing and personal safety demonstrations, games, rides, and a helicopter (at top and below) attracted plenty of people Saturday (Oct. 7, 2017) to the Home Depot parking lot on Armand Hammer Boulevard in Lower Pottsgrove. Several companies arrived with equipment shined and gear on display, ready to answer questions from both children and the young-at-heart. A similar display is planned Thursday (Oct. 12) from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Coventry Mall, 351 W. Schuylkill Rd., Pottstown PA. The event is free and open to the public. Both shows, staffed by dozens of hard-working volunteers, observe Oct. 8-14 as Fire Prevention Week, sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association. Lower Pottsgrove Fire Marshal Lew Babel said Sanatoga and Ringing Hill fire companies’ first responders were visiting both public and private elementary school classes across the township this week, giving lessons and spreading the fire prevention message.
