Sewer Work Expected To Disrupt Deer Ridge

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Although a construction schedule has yet to be announced, installation of soon-to-come sanitary sewer connections between an existing line on Deer Ridge Drive and new ones at the Spring Valley Farms housing community on Bleim Road is likely to close a portion of Deer Ridge daily for an unspecified period, according to Lower Pottsgrove Manager Ed Wagner.

Wagner released drawings (above) Tuesday (Oct. 24, 2017) that showed where a sewer line would be laid south from Spring Valley Farms, run though a narrow space between two homes, and join the line at the center of Deer Ridge Drive. The start of the project is outside the property located at 2019 Deer Ridge Dr., he said.

The work has the potential of disrupting vehicular movement on Deer Ridge for a period of time, Wagner noted. It was a topic he was scheduled to discuss Tuesday afternoon with officials at the Pottsgrove School District, because it was probable its school bus stops would be affected. The subject did not arise during Tuesday night’s meeting of the district Board of School Directors.

The engineering drawings indicate the full width of Deer Ridge will be re-paved along the stretch where the pipe installation and connections are made, once the work is completed.

As already announced by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, nearby Bleim Road was closed to traffic between North Pleasant View and New Hanover Square roads beginning Wednesday (Oct. 25) for Spring Valley Farms-related construction there. It will be unavailable to drivers Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Detour routing for all traffic will be effective on those days and times.
