POTTSTOWN PA – The children’s department of the Pottstown Regional Public Library will close to the public next week – from Monday through Saturday (Oct. 30-Nov. 4, 2017) – to replace carpeting there, according to a library media release.
While the department is closed, patrons may request books online or at the circulation desk. A small selection of materials will be on display on the main floor for checkout, and library employees “will make every effort to meet the needs of library patrons,” it added.
The improvement is one of several intended to upgrade the department, and provide a clean, open, welcoming, and flexible space, Executive Director Michelle Kehoe said.
Work completed so far includes installation of new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, and fresh air exchangers; a redesigned floor plan, a fresh coat of paint, and technology infrastructure upgrades. Future plans will add new lighting, and a public space that will become a maker space and craft area.
Support for these projects is provided by the First Presbyterian Church, Soroptomists Club of Pottstown, and Pottstown Rotary Club. The library is actively searching for new partners to finish the project.
