Hearings Set For Two On Days Inn Drug Charges

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Two men identified as Philadelphia residents are in custody and scheduled for preliminary hearings Nov. 30 (2017; Thursday) in the Pottstown courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Edward C. Kropp Sr., following their recent arrests by Lower Pottsgrove police on several drug-related charges stemming from an incident at the Days Inn on Industrial Highway.

Kevin Rasheen Moore, 34, and Otis Mitchell, 46, face multiple counts of intent or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver controlled substances, intent to possess a controlled substance, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Montgomery County court docket sheets and public summary reports. They were arrested Oct. 27 during early morning hours inside the hotel as police served an earlier-issued warrant.

Lower Pottsgrove Ofc. James McCue and Det. Daniel Kienle arrived at the hotel at 2:55 a.m. to serve the warrant at one of its rooms. Upon entering they discovered a backpack in the room, obtained consent to search it, and discovered about three-quarters of a pound of drugs believed to be methamphetamine, heroin, diazepam, and suboxone.

Both were jailed in the county Correctional Facility in Eagleville PA after they were unable to post bail. Moore’s bail was set at $500,000; Mitchell’s at $50,000.

Police Chief Michael Foltz has told the township Board of Commissioners the Days Inn continues to be a problem location for the police department. The chief last year made publicized appeals to New Jersey-based Wyndham Worldwide Corp., owner of the Days Inn brand, for help in ending a continued series of crime-related incidents at the four-story lodging complex just off U.S. Route 422 at the Armand Hammer Boulevard interchange.
