LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Upcoming cases scheduled before the Lower Pottsgrove Zoning Hearing Board soon will have their own special spot on the semi-monthly agenda of the township Board of Commissioners, Manager Ed Wagner promises.
Wagner and Solicitor Charles D. Garner Jr. say they regularly discuss ways they might better keep commissioners “in the loop” on events and issues. The latest suggestion came from Garner, who has spent decades advising municipalities. Other township boards with which he works periodically get updates on zoning board activities, Garner reported; he thought commissioners should have them too.
“Not everything is going to be important to review in advance,” Garner told them during the board’s Nov. 9 meeting, “but some applications may be more significant than others. The idea is just to keep you aware that applications have been filed and hearings are coming up.”
Commissioners liked the proposal, and thanked Garner and Wagner. The change will appear on succeeding agendas, Wagner reported.
The Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial entity, appointed by but independent of commissioners, that meets only when needed and if then usually only once a month. Announcements of its meetings are publicly advertised.
