POTTSTOWN PA – Portions of east- and west-bound U.S. Route 422 in the Pottstown area will be closed and detoured during several nights next week, for barrier installation as part of a project to improve and reconstruct 1.2 miles of the highway in North Coventry, West Pottsgrove, and Douglass townships, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
Here’s the work schedule:
- Eastbound 422 will be closed and detoured Monday through Thursday (Dec. 4-7, 2017) between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., from the split with Benjamin Franklin Highway in Douglass to Route 100 in North Coventry. During construction, eastbound drivers will be directed to continue on Benjamin Franklin Highway and High Street, and then turn right on Route 100 South to reach the ramp to eastbound U.S. 422; and
- Westbound 422 will be closed and detoured also Monday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., from Route 100 to the split with Benjamin Franklin Highway. During construction, westbound 422 drivers will be directed to take Route 100 North, and High Street and Benjamin Franklin Highway, to reach westbound 422.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area overnight. Backups can be expected. All scheduled activities depend on the weather.
