SANATOGA PA – Rich red, ripe tomato sauce, perfectly cooked pasta, and a Christmas tree topped with a fire-fighter’s helmet. With a meal so sublime, and a setting so supreme, members of the Sanatoga Fire Company figured Santa Claus would never pass up a chance for a return visit to the East High Street firehouse Saturday (Dec. 2, 2017).
He didn’t. Jolly St. Nick, whose “ho-ho-ho” admittedly sounded similar to that of a veteran company officer, spent hours chatting with guests, hearing gift wishes, and smiling broadly at all those who came in for a meal during Sanatoga’s annual spaghetti dinner with Santa.
Firefighters report business was brisk from the start. The fund-raising dinner helps support the all-volunteer company’s operations.
Residents of the company’s coverage area within Lower Pottsgrove can expect to see Santa again in two weeks, on Dec. 16 (Saturday), as he rides around portions of the township atop a Sanatoga fire truck. The schedule for its Santa stops to greet children and their parents in their neighborhoods (below) was distributed at the dinner.
