Pottsgrove Band, Orchestra Celebrate Holidays

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Pottsgrove High School already feels like home to its new band director and teacher, Shawn Campopiano (at top).

Campopiano, who arrived at Pottsgrove for the start of the 2017-2018 academic year, led its Concert Band musicians in three detailed performances as part of their winter holiday event Thursday night (Dec. 7, 2017) before a substantial and appreciative audience in the Kauffman Road school building. In comments to his players and the crowd, he profusely thanked administrators, teaching colleagues, and students themselves for making him feel welcome.

Campopiano took over after the departure of his long-time predecessor, Victor Holladay. From the podium, he acknowledged that could have been, but wasn’t, a difficult transition. “You stuck with it,” he happily told the musicians, and added he was grateful for suggestions and help offered by fellow teachers and Principal Dr. Bill Ziegler.

String Orchestra Director William Einhorn led his musicians in three more performances, including what he called a “difficult piece” to learn titled “Ose Shalom.” Einhorn received student cheers when Ziegler mentioned his name during opening remarks.
