Recycle Holiday Trees Saturday At Arboretum

Last year’s successful tree recycling at Althouse Arboretum is being repeated

UPPER POTTSGROVE PA – The annual Community Christmas Tree Recycling Program conducted by the non-profit GreenAllies organization is scheduled for Saturday (Jan. 6, 2018) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Althouse Arboretum, 1794 Gilbertsville Rd. The ability to recycle unwanted holiday evergreens is free and open to the public, although donations will be gratefully accepted.

Area residents are encouraged to give their trees “a second purpose,” Green Allies Executive Director Ken Hamilton said, by bringing them to the arboretum. With help from Upper Pottsgrove Township, the trees will be chipped and used there to cover walking trails.

Community and student volunteers will be on hand at the arboretum to assist in removing trees from all vehicles. Residents who need help transporting their trees can schedule a pick-up, with event sponsor Kirk’s Lawn Care, for a donation to GreenAllies. Schedule a pick-up appointment online. For more information about the program, call 267-371-2288 or send Hamilton an e-mail.
