READING PA – Herbein + Company Inc., the Reading-based certified public accountant business that a year ago acquired a firm in Upper Pottsgrove Township, on Monday (Jan. 8, 2018) said it bought another practice to help it compete for more regional clients.
Herbein had 20 partners, 175 employees and about $28 million in revenue before its acquisition of Gable Peritz Mishkin, with offices in Spring House PA and Marlton NJ. “They will become Herbein’s easternmost locations and offer a base for further geographic expansion in the Philadelphia and New Jersey markets,” according to the publication Accounting Today.
The transaction adds five additional partners, 24 total employees and about $5 million in annual revenue. Details of the acquisition were not disclosed, Accounting Today reported.
Monday’s deal represents Herbein’s eighth merger. Its seventh, in December 2016, was the purchase of Michael L. Cross & Company Ltd., a formerly independent accounting firm at 1303 N. Charlotte St. in Upper Pottsgrove.
Herbein has served for several years as the firm that audits the financial statements of the Pottsgrove School District.
Gable Peritz “brings experience in servicing clients in the real estate, construction, non-profit, health care, and service provider sectors, complementing some of Herbein’s current specialties,” Accounting Today added. It also “offers tax, estate, audit, litigation support, business valuation, and advisory services, adding to Herbein’s ability to serve clients in a wider geographic area.”
