Bridge construction continues on U.S. Route 422 (at top)
POTTSTOWN PA – Right-lane closures are scheduled Monday and Tuesday (Jan. 22-23, 2018) on eastbound U.S. Route 422 in Lower Pottsgrove Township, and Wednesday and Thursday (Jan. 24-25) on the westbound side, for sign installation and bridge construction work as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s highway reconstruction project there, the agency said.
- The eastbound right lane will close Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. between the the Keim Street and Sanatoga interchanges, to erect signage; and
- The westbound right lane will close Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. between the Sanatoga and Route 724 interchanges, for bridge construction.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities depend on the weather.
Contractor J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen PA is building, in phases, new 422 structures over the Schuylkill River, and over Norfolk Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding 422 from the Schuylkill River bridge to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over 422; improving and realigning ramps at its Armand Hammer Boulevard interchange; reconstructing and realigning the ramp from Route 724 to 422 east; improving storm water drainage; erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future intelligent transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and signs.
The $73.3 million project is scheduled to finish in Fall 2018.
