KING OF PRUSSIA PA – U.S. Route 422 drivers traveling during overnight hours through the Valley Forge area next week (Jan. 29-Feb. 3, Monday through Saturday) can expect to deal with left and right lane closures in both the east- and westbound directions due to bridge beam installations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
Contractor J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen PA is building new, wider bridges to improve travel on the four-lane highway. Its crews plan closures with periodic, 15-minute traffic stoppages each night during the week:
- On eastbound 422 between Route 363 and U.S. 202, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning; and
- On westbound 422 between U.S. 202 and Route 363, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.
Additionally, PennDOT said, lane restrictions with flagging are planned on Route 23 between Gulph and Moore roads on Tuesday through Thursday (Jan. 30-Feb. 1) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.
Drivers should allow additional time for travel in both construction zones. Backups and delays will occur, the agency warned. The contractor’s schedule depends on the weather.
