LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Early is good, and earlier is better, as far as the Pottsgrove School District is concerned.
Although the start of the 2018-2019 academic year is months away, the process of registering a child to attend kindergarten classes can take some time and a little work. That’s why the district, effective today (Thursday, Feb. 1), has opened its online portal to let parents get the process under way, Registrar Bobbi Oxenford announced.
Those attending kindergarten must reach age 5 before Sept. 1. If your child qualifies, instructions on how to proceed are available on the district website, here.
Much of the initial registration effort, which once involved a lot of paper shuffling, is now completed over the Internet. Parents who, for whatever reason, are unable to work on an electronic registration are asked to contact the elementary school their child is likely to attend. That’s either Ringing Rocks Elementary (call Barbara Paolucci at 610-323-0903 Ext. 3050) or West Pottsgrove Elementary (call Renee Lloyd at 610-323-6510 Ext. 5046).
When the online portion of registration is finished, parents can expect to receive a confirmation email from either school. It will contain more information on documents the district will need, as well as dates already set aside to receive them. The document list includes:
- An original birth or adoption certificate;
- Up-to-date immunization records;
- Proof of residency, in the form of a current deed or lease, and two utility bills; and
- If applicable, custody orders or other legal documents designating a court-appointed foster parent.
