The Board of School Directors unanimously voted Tuesday to accept a fact-finder’s proposals in the labor contract negotiations between the Pottsgrove School District and its teachers. Now a decision to accept or reject must be made by union members.

A law proposed (again) by a Pennsylvania legislator from Berks County, which would eliminate property taxes as the primary revenue source for public school funding, ran into a variety of objections this week. Opponents have offered them before … and succeeded in killing similar measures.

The Pottsgrove School District last week got the green light to work with a Montgomery County consortium that will buy natural gas in bulk on the commodities markets. It anticipates significant savings on energy costs.
