Political necessity dictates that newly elected and re-elected members of a governing body, no matter how long they’ve already served in the same capacity, be sworn into office. That happened Tuesday for three members of the Lower Pottsgrove Board of Commissioners.

Under congressional redistricting maps unveiled Tuesday and approved less than a day later by the Pennsylvania Senate, Lower Pottsgrove would by represented by Congressman Jim Gerlach. A state House vote on the proposal is set for Monday.

Veteran campaigner Bruce Foltz was the top vote-getter Tuesday among four candidates for Lower Pottsgrove Board of Commissioners’ electoral vacancies. Stephen Klotz and Jonathan Spadt won two remaining board seats.

Under a proposal agreed upon by local members of both major political parties, Lower Pottsgrove’s largest voting district, No. 2, would be divided to better serve voters. Half of its residents would continue to vote at Berean Bible Church; half would vote at Sunnybrook Ballroom.
