Legislators in Harrisburg are discussing ways to reduce future costs of pensions provided to retired teachers and other public employees. The costs of keeping the current pension system funded are creating budget headaches for Pottsgrove and other school districts.

Pottsgrove Corrects Approval Of Its Social Media Policy

Oops! It was a draft, and not the final version, of its electronic communications and social media policy that was approved last month by the Pottsgrove school board. The error has been corrected. Improved, too, an administrator thinks.

‘Grove Community Band Opens With Two May Concerts

The band, marking its 53rd anniversary this year, will play May 14 in Spring City, and May 21 at Pottsgrove High School. Their shows are free and open to the public.

Big Changes Coming Next Year To Pottsgrove MS Math

Students will be able to choose from or be placed in a broader array of courses, all designed to meet increasingly tougher Pennsylvania standards. One other benefit: as learners’ comprehension increases, Pottsgrove hopes, so will their results on state standardized tests.

Pottsgrove OKs Reinvesting Money Now To Save Later

It and other districts that are part of the Western Montgomery Career and Technical Center can save tens of thousands of dollars each on loan repayment costs in five years by being frugal now, directors learned. They liked the proposal.

Summer School Inevitable, With ‘Grove-Approved Hires

For Pottsgrove School District students who need remedial help, summer school can be a blessing. Admittedly, they don’t always see it that way. The school board nonetheless began preparing for it Tuesday, and also approved several other personnel actions.
